Well-Being: A Concept of Interest Across Health Science Disciplines
Diana L. Morris, PhD, RN, FAAN, Frances Payne Bolton Shool of Nursing, Case Western Reserve Unviersity, Cleveland, OH, USA

This presentation examines the concept of well-being as a phenomenon of interest across health science disciplines, beginning with the disciplines of psychology and sociology.  It looks specifically at how well-being has been theoretically and operationally defined within the body of literature by various disciplines and interest groups. Classic attributes that have been assigned to well-being are also traced through the literature from the last half of the twentieth century to the present. The presentation also discusses elderly care givers as a unique at-risk group.
