Partnership Councils and Outcomes Engineering: High Impact Leadership Strategies to Create an Evidence-Based Nursing Environment

Learning Objective #1: Identify the components of the Partnership Council infrastructure, including its' outcome tracking system, as it relates to creating an evidence-based nursing environment
Learning Objective #2: Articulate examples of how these strategies engage staff in; applying research, bringing their expertise and addressing the unique needs of patients
In creating an evidence-based nursing environment, the development of an ongoing horizontal council infrastructure to compliment the management structure is essential to engaging staff in the advancement of evidence-based practice. This strategy is a potent way for leaders to partner with staff in actualizing evidence–based care on a consistent basis . This session will introduce the innovative structure, tools and outcomes of partnership councils as utilized by a consortium of over 90 hospitals for more than two decades. A unique Web based outcomes tracking system will be introduced as the primary way for councils to capture their evidence based progress and contributions. Data will be shared from pilot studies and practical application at many healthcare sites spanning 2 countries. Participants will learn about the key success factors for implementing partnership councils and hear about case studies where staff in councils applied research, brought their expertise, and addressed unique patient needs. The partnership councils provide a place for nurses to have the deeper conversations and learning related to evidence based practice.
