The presentation describes an intensive two day course focusing on current informatics trends and issues in health. The course includes content for nurses interested in becoming Certified Informatics Nurses. Every nurse needs competencies in nursing informatics and this course offers an innovative approach to informatics education.

The course serves to assist the nurse with a structured approach to informatics education as well as an optional path for Nursing Informatics Certification. Attendees will learn about the components of this successful, award-winning, in person program. The course is innovative, in that it is a course taught all around the United States, bringing education to those who might not be able to travel. Two speakers with certification and education in nursing informatics serve as the course facilitators. Any nurse interested in knowing about nursing informatics is welcome to attend. Previous attendees range from those with no experience to those who have a master's degree in nursing informatics and seek to tie together their previous classroom learning.

Topics taught during the course include:

  • Foundations of Practice
  • System Design Life Cycle
  • Data Management and Health Care Technology
  • Current Issues
  • Test-taking Tips and
  • Case Studies.
