Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to identify barriers nurses from different generations must overcome when working toward a common goal.

Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to identify valuable communication techniques to use among the different generations.

The poster presents the generational perceptions, values, and defining characteristics of the Veterans, Baby Boomers, Gen Xers and the Millenniums, the four groups of nurses active in today's workplace. The style of a generation is formed and refined by the events occurring within the world, during their developmental years. These styles impact the ways people live, work and communicate.
Communication styles of the different generations are examined and reviewed.  The most effective methods are presented in poster form.  Generational perceptions, values and defining characteristics will be presented to the viewer.
It is our hope, that once given this information, nurses will be prepared to put forth the efforts to make positive change within their practice to overcome the barriers among generations.
