Fundamental Elements Present in Healthy Cultures

Each of the Fundamental elements identified within an International Consortium of over 240 rural, community and university settings that are essential to create healthy cultures will be reviewed.  Each of the 10 elements will be defined and correlated to  professional, legal, financial and credentialing standards. An introduction of polarity management and its role in successfully implementing each of the elements will be given.  The feedback from over 4000 colleagues who have assessed the strength of each of these elements within their present practice culture will be shared and correlated to the Institute of Medicines 10 recommendations for improving the safety of care within the health care system.  The elements will be related to the national clinical indicators, and national priority goals for healthcare improvement in 2009.
