Learning Objective 1: Identify types of evidence-based nursing guideline recommendations that support professional scope of practice and quality care.

Learning Objective 2: Describe the process utilized to translate written evidence-based guideline recommendations into descrete data elements for healthcare information technology workflow integration design.

Healthcare organizations are leveraging technology solutions to standardize practice and documentation.  Technology can also be leveraged to support advances in evidence-based practice integration when it is intentionally designed with evidence-based guideline recommendations.  A clear understanding of nursing scope of practice provides the framework necessary in determining the types of evidence-based data most helpful in point of care processes.  This presentation will demonstrate an innovative approach in translating evidence-based practice guideline recommendations into discrete data elements for technology integration.  A step-by-step approach will be demonstrated using a current evidence-based clinical practice guideline example.  Leveraging technology to support scope of practice and evidence-based integration into practice will enhance patient care and provide needed assistance with clinical decision-making in the care moment.  Participants will be exposed to success stories associated with this innovative clinical practice guideline translation approach when used in practice at the point of care.
