The successful build, implementation and adoption of a new method of clinical decision support ant documentation in a complex practice setting requires coordination and cooperation across many organizational units.  Input from clinicians familiar with the domain of nursing is essential to the development of health information systems that are sensitive to and supportive of the workflow of nurses.  The significant input of staff nurses at all levels of the development and implementation of new HIT systems can increase buy-in, improve adoption and reduce unnecessary costs and delays.  The process and challenges of developing, implementing and educating staff as preparation for a major system installation will be described and staff satisfaction reported.
