There are generic SPHM Algorithms that are utilized along with the Patient Assessment to be used when transferring and moving patients. Other evidence-based area specific algorithms are also available for Bariatrics and Orthopedics.  This session will introduce the evidence-based plan of care for other clinical settings such as Pediatrics, ICU’s Labor & Delivery, Home-care and Rehabilitation. Technology solutions include equipment such as ceiling-mounted lifts, slings, floor-based lifts, and friction-reducing devices such as air-mattress devices and slide-sheets. Polices and procedures will be reviewed as well as the means to develop and implement a SPHM plan in your healthcare facility. The discussion of unit-specific and shift-specific evaluations for implementation of the program will be reviewed. Departments effected in the planning of the program will include: Education, Nursing Administration, Purchasing, and Safety and Security. Disposable vs. non-disposable slings to meet specific unit needs will be discussed.
