Description/Overview: The purpose of this session is to share the work to date of the European Chapters and emerging Honor Societies in supporting Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI) in its vision to become a truly global organisation by 2020. Over the last year, representatives from the three Chapters and from the emerging Honor societies in Europe have met on two occasions (in Utrecht, Netherlands and Coimbra, Portugal) to share their ideas with regard to developing a strategy for expanding STTI across Europe. In this presentation we will share the outcome of our deliberations and we welcome your views and thoughts on our emerging ideas. In order to set the scene for EuroVision 2020 the cultural and political context of Europe will be outlined. This will highlight the similarities as well as differences across the European countries. In particular the state of nursing and nursing education across Europe will be discussed. The current status of STTI Chapters and Honor Societies in Europe and opportunities for collaboration with existing global and European Nursing organisations will be presented. The challenges and opportunities arising from the European nursing context will then be discussed in relation to STTI’s mission, vision and strategy for globalisation. The strategic plan for STTI Europe will then be outlined. Specifically the strategic goals for developing STTI across Europe will be presented. It will be shown how the goals of the European strategic plan support and are congruent with STTI’s strategy for globalisation. So please come along and join us to hear the views and voices from across the pond.
