Description/Overview: We often hear about personal branding and “brand you” when it comes to your career, but communicating your brand -- or platform – to editors if you’re considering publishing is critically important. Facilitated by the publisher of Sigma Theta Tau International, attendees will learn how to look at their body of work from graduate work to research to papers to narratives and build an author platform. The session will cover how to identify your platform, promoting yourself and your work, creating brand-able ideas and concepts, and ultimately building that platform into a book, consulting project, paper, or work proposal. Presenter will show online and real-time examples of blogs, social networking tools, book proposals, web pages, and more.
Learner Objective #1: Understand what your author platform is and why it’s critical to your work.
Learner Objective #2: Understanding and becoming comfortable with self-promotion.
