Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to become aware of how Health Promotion and Illness prevention can be focused on Adolescent girls by SIM.

Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to be reassured that measures of promoting Self Instructional Module toward promoting Global Health is an advantage.

Global health being the central focus, every aspect of health in different age groups of life span need emphasis, awareness. Individuals need to be conveyed of the different risks involved among their  pertaining age group, culture, or habits. One issue which caught my attention pertaining from the several issues within global health was Dysmenorrhea. Around the world issues of absenteeism in schools among adolescent girls are linked with Dysmenorrhea. Conveying a message on health aspects becomes a task and therefore requires us to focus on effective ways of communicating on health focused topics which puts forth a challenge.

A study conducted by me on a relevant topic that is “Effectiveness of Self Instructional Module among adolescent girls on management of dysmenorrhea in a rural school, Bangalore". The sample size consisted of 50 adolescent school girls. The SIM consisted of a brief on dysmenorrhea and its various aspects of management. A Pre test post test control group design was used, the base measure was a structured knowledge questionnaire. Mean, Standard Deviation and ‘t’ test were used to determine the significance of the knowledge scores of the adolescent school girls. The Study proved to be effective by the evidence of the pre test and post test analysis as the results stated  the over all knowledge  values according to statistical sinificance showed to be:- Pretest: Mean-13.16, SD-3.23; Post Test: Mean-19.36, SD:4.12; Significant at 5% level  for 49 df (i.e. P<0.05) paired 't' value was 6.75*

Not just basic modules such as Self instructional module but many aspects of informative means could be used according to the relevance and focus of topics.
