Learning Objective 2: The learning will be able to examine the predictors of Lifelong learning of professional nurses
The purposes of this research were to study the lifelong learning and to examine the relationships between variables such as working position, achievement motive, perceived organizational support and lifelong learning of professional nurses. The samples consisted of 267 professional nurses working in Police General Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand and were selected by stratified random sampling technique. Achievement motive, Perceived organizational support and Lifelong learning were used as study Lifelong learning concept framework. These questionnaires were tested content validity and reliability with the Alpha of .92, .86 and .93 respectively. Statistical methods used to analyze the data were mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The results of the study revealed that;
- The overall lifelong learning of professional nurses at Police General Hospital was at high level of lifelong learning
- Variables predicting lifelong learning of professional nurses at p = .05 were working position and achievement motive. These predictors accounted for 35.9 percent of the variance (R2 = 35.9)
This findings indicated that the more nurses achievement motive, the higher level of lifelong learning they are. This means that the organization shuold make knowledge, training and skill development to workforce for their better status or working life for their nurses will gain productivity from higher qualification of nurses.
