Learning Objective 1: Indentify how professional development of writing and presentation adds knowledge to the clinical nurse.

Learning Objective 2: Identify the global implications of this professional development model.

The purpose of this program was to foster professional development and knowledge of the clinical nurse as part of the implementation of the Relationship-Based Care (RBC) model.  This project provided an avenue for the clinical nurse to increase nursing knowledge, through publication and presentation, and share this knowledge with nurses globally. Successes in clinical practice with the implementation of RBC model were emphasized.

A monthly writers group was formed and attendance from the clinical nurse was voluntary.  This monthly group was lead by a PhD prepared nurse from a local university and DNP prepared nurse from the medical center.  Content was focused on the writing process, outline development, literature searches and methods to disseminate the RBC projects.

After 6 months of meeting, 7 manuscripts had been submitted for publication, 2 poster presentation abstracts, 1 oral presentation abstract and 5 members committed to writing a book chapter.

Nurse leaders and clinical nurses need to know the importance of disseminating the findings of clinical innovations through writing for publication and presentations.
