  Creation of the Glen Taylor Nursing Institute for Family and Society (http://ahn.mnsu.edu/nursing/institute/) at Minnesota State University, Mankato (USA) has generated a great deal of excitement in family and society nursing practice. The School of Nursing recently received a $7 million dollar endowment from Glen and Becky Taylor to specifically advance knowledge that will support the health of families and populations. This presentation will provide an overview of the Institute’s unique mission and recent regional and global initiatives. Research approaches that examine the scholarship of nursing practice and system changes that support the Institute will be explored. Systematic efforts to build capacity within the university, such as curricula revision at the doctoral, masters, and undergraduate levels and plans for faculty development will be described. Doctor of Nursing practice projects supported by the Institute will be highlighted. Strategic external partnerships formed at the local, national, and international level to advance knowledge transfer/exchange projects will be described. The academia and clinical practice partnerships that are leading change and bridging practice gaps will be highlighted. The Institute is creating an intellectual community of international scholars to develop landmark innovations in practice. The Institute is becoming a leader for change in practice, education and research.
