Teaching student nurses how to make the paradigm shift to caring for community, state, or nation as client with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention can be a challenging process. This presentation describes how students in RN-to-BSN community and public health nursing courses use the Artinian Intersystem Model to guide the Core Functions of Public Health (Assessment, Assurance, and Policy Development) to develop and implement educational programs for aggregate and vulnerable populations. Examples of actual student vignettes will illustrate how the AIM has been used successfully to negotiate with clients to provide mutually satisfactory health promotion programs at Primary and Secondary Levels of Prevention.
