Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to describe how Mexican nurses discuss the use of standardized clinical guidelines to prevent falls in older adults.

Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to describe the nursing interventions aimed to seeking and maintaining positive health outcomes in Mexican old adults.

Purpose: To test a nursing intervention addressed by standardized clinical guidelines  for the prevention of falls on older people.

Methods: It will be evaluated using repeated measures quasi-experimental design with two different groups: experimental group  will receive a nursing intervention with physical activities to prevent falls, control group will receive a traditional care based in information about how to prevent falls. The sample size will be estimated using ANOVA for repeated measurements with three levels (level of confidence 95%, power = .90) for the interaction time per group, and a large effect size (Lipsey, 1990). The nQuery Advisor 7.0 software is used (Elashoff, 2007) The following variables will be made using standardized assessments:Measurements will be done before, during, after and follow-up. Health, gait, balance, and fear of falling will be assessed. The outcomes will be processed on the SPSS 19 database. The study will be conducted with old adults registered in the locals support centers (DIF), on Ramos Arizpe and Saltillo cities, Coahuila México. We will discuss the use of standardized clinical guidelines based on the scientific evidence available in the advanced nursing practice and their implications in positive heath outcomes in older adults.
