A 15 SPECIAL SESSION: Outcomes and Sustainability of the Nurse Faculty Mentored Leadership Development Program

Saturday, 29 October 2011: 3:15 PM-4:30 PM
Description/Overview: The Nurse Faculty Mentored Leadership Development (NFMLD) program is an intense leadership development experience sponsored and administered through a partnership between Sigma Theta Tau International and the Elsevier Foundation. The purpose of the program is to: foster academic career success, promote nurse faculty retention and satisfaction, promulgate personal leadership development, and cultivate high performing, supportive work environments in academe. The NFMLD is designed for aspiring nursing education leaders who have less than four years of experience as full time faculty in a school of nursing. An eighteen month curriculum provides intellectual and experiential learning opportunities facilitated by an esteemed international faculty. The program is built upon the foundation of relational development between the Scholars, their Mentors, and their Faculty Consultants. Scholars will present outcomes achieved by the cohort in three domains: individual leadership development, advancement in nursing education through team projects, and the Scholars’ expanded scope of influence within their sponsoring academic institutions, the community, and the profession. Sustainability of the Scholar nursing education projects, the individual leadership development of the Scholars, and the impact of the NFMLD will be presented.
