B 06 SPECIAL SESSION: Transitioning from Student to Registered Nurse: Tools for the First Year of Practice

Description/Overview: A clinical nurse educator from a large, metropolitan hospital system will describe the content and program structure utilized to assist newly graduated nurses in becoming competent and confident staff nurses within the clinical setting. An recent graduate will describe strategies utilized and pitfalls avoided to successfully transition from newly graduate nurse to a competent and confident staff nursing within the clinical setting.
Learner Objective #1: Determine the critical components of a clinical nurse orientation for new-graduate registered nurses.
Learner Objective #2: Identify at least three strategies that the new-graduate registered nurse can utilize to successfully transition from student nurse to a fully functioning registered nurse role.
