"These Hands" is an 80-line poem consisting of rhymed couplets. It is a recollection of my personal journey that begins and ends with the present. It is about how the recent anointing of my hands with oil has made me the nurse that I am, that I was, and always will be. It exemplifies how simply holding a hand, touching a head or soothing a cry can impact healing. It is filled with emotion and laced with humor. I have communicated in a holistic way for which usual ways are inadequate. I am fortunate to have gianed new insights and wisdom by writing this poem. It was an exercise in timely introspection which made me more acutely aware that I am in the right place, and always have been.
