The poem lends to the aesthetic expression of what concerns that the "old guard" of nurses have for the new nurse. It seems to help bridge the gap of what has always been true: the expert nurse must have faith that the new nurse will fulfill the roles expected, will reveal compassion and caring for the patients, and will give a new spirit to our most treasured profession. Because we must someday leave the legacy to these new nurses, this cannot help but be significant to nursing practice, education, and administration as our professional age continues to grow.
Although one might think that the poem does not speak to "Building Diverse Relationships," the author asks the reviewers to consider the following question: In what other situation is there more of a challenge to diversity than when the traditional is questioned and new ideas are introduced by these new nurses? This is why nursing remains diverse.
