Business Man with a Big Heart

Elizabeth Lada Morse, RN, MPA, MSN, Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT, USA

A quilted wall hanging created as a 'healing project' following the sudden and unexpected death from a sudden heart attack of my husband. My husband was 49 years old at the time of his death (49 Hearts) and was enrolled in the Executive Doctor of Management program at The Weatherhead School at Case Western University. He died on his way to class. Each heart is made from one of his silk ties. The white background is from his white shirts and borders are made from two different wool suits. The size of the wall hanging is 49" x 49" and it is quilted by machine. The wall hanging has been used as one demonstration of a healing project that nurses or families may use to work through grief--it took a lot of energy to take apart the ties and suites--and to create a memory quilt.
