Enclosed for your consideration, please find 6 copies of an original multimedia presentation entitled "Today I am Old." "Today" was a project created by a senior nursing student to fulfill the requirements of an older adult health class.

The goal of this project was to present a vehicle that would expand and enlighten fellow students on a health care issue relevant to the older adult population. "Today" is a compilation of original painting, original music and voice-over talent designed to focus on the patient undergoing a health care crises.

Beginning with the premise that the science of nursing is adequately taught through learning labs, clinical experience, and didactic forum, one can measure knowledge of science through demonstration of proficiency. However, the problem remains how to stimulate the heart and art of nursing students. Through the use of creative expression, this project does just that.

"Today" looks at the holistic challenge of one woman as she travels through the health care system. Once able to empathize with the patient, the nurse is better equipped to respond to, and provide support for the patient. The nurse in “Today” practices artistic nursing through her connection with her patient.

The artist has just completed her fifth year of nursing and continues to incorporate art into the science of nursing.
