Learning Objective #1: Understand the scope of practice of an RN; this will include facilitators and barriers that currently exist
Learning Objective #2: Create new care-delivery models that reflect client-centered care, optimize scope of practice, and enhance quality of worklife

In the increasingly challenging and changing world of health care, how closely does professional practice align with individual discipline's scopes of practice? Are we measuring up or do we have work to do? How well do health care professionals know and understand their scope of practice? And, how well do health professionals know and understand the scopes of practice of the members of their health care team?

To answer the questions, an innovative approach to challenging current practice was implemented within selected acute care and mental health programs and services. Changing the Way We Work is a grassroots initiative that provides a conceptual framework for care delivery change. The process challenges health professionals to critically examine current practice within the context of scope of practice, patient population needs and resources to create new care delivery models that optimize scope of practice, reflect patient-centred care and enrich professional leadership, work organization and quality of worklife. This presentation will present highlights from ongoing work utilizing Changing the Way We Work.
