Learning Objective #1: Identify perceptions of computer use and knowledge in nursing
Learning Objective #2: Discuss future use and knowledge of computers in nursing

The results of a research project addressing senior baccalaureate degree nursing students and nursing faculty members perceptions that included activities such as word processing, electronic mail, statistical analysis, bibliographic retrieval, presentation graphics, and Internet capabilities will be presented.

Current research from a literature review on computers in nursing will be presented. For example, it has been reported that nursing documentation without the use of computers takes up to 15% of nursing work time, thereby, decreasing nurses' productivity. The more able nurses are to have knowledge of and use computers, the more promising their career in health care will become.
