Using Mindfulness Principles to Guide the Conceptualization of a Collaborative Practice

This presentation will explore mindfulness principles and premises, which guided the conceptualization of an integrative and collaborative private practice. The presenter will discuss clinical research and theoretical influences that informed their unique philosophy underpinning the creation of their holistic practice. The presenter will describe the processes utilized to create a collective vision of their practice, their organizational structure, and their business plan. This will include a brief review of some key concepts of mindfulness: self-awareness, self-acceptance, and cultivating a mindful orientation in relationship building. The presenter will describe the collaborative partners' usage of mindful practices in developing a vision and mission for a holistic center for healing. Details of pertinent mindful practices involved in the creation of an organization including: an orientation to the present moment, attentive listening, flexibility, and recognition and validation of each individual's strengths, biases, and preferences will be covered.
