Special Session: Transforming Care at the Bedside - Engaging Front-Line Staff for Innovation |
Learning Objective #1: Describe the conceptual design and goals for the Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB) initiative |
Learning Objective #2: Identify strategies for engaging front-line staff in testing and implementing innovations and high-leverage changes |
Health care organizations are at a critical crossroads in the challenge to provide improved care for patients and to attract and retain skilled nurses in an environment of rapid change and constrained resources. Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB), an initiative partially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), is charged with developing one or more models of care on medical and surgical units that will enhance patient safety, transform the patient's experience, improve staff retention, and result in greater efficiency. This session will describe the conceptual framework and a process to empower front-line staff to generate new ideas, develop tests of change and evaluate the success of the changes toward achieving the project aims. |
