Learning Objective #1: Discuss the role of the nurse leader in creating a magnet workplace culture
Learning Objective #2: Discuss components of the magnet journey from the standpoint of renewal strategies

Magnet workplace cultures have gained increasing popularity over the last decade. The growth seen in the Magnet movement may be attributed to the significant body of evidence that documents the positive outcomes associated with Magnet workplace cultures. Although the empirical literature documenting the benefits of Magnet is extensive, less abundant literature is available to assist individuals and organizations with how to pursue Magnet designation in their facilities. This session discusses the nurse leader's role in creating a Magnet workplace culture and integrating into the journey the contributions of both nurses in practice and nurses in academia. Components of the Magnet journey will be discussed from a practical "how to" perspective with particular emphasis given to a discussion of the nurse leader's role in incorporating renewal strategies throughout the Magnet journey.
