The purpose of this study was to develope the Leader-Member Exchange Scale (LMXS) in order to assess relationship between head nurses and staff nurses. Liden and Maslyn (1998) was used as study conceptual framework, thirty items with 5-point Likert scale were created. A convinient sample of 341 staff nurses who participants responded to this scale. SPSS program was used to analyze each validity, reliability, construct component and test-retest. Finding from factor analysis indicated four subscales : Affection, Loyalty, Contribution and Professional Respect. Internal consistency was used to determine reliability of the LMXS. The Alpha coefficients for each subscale were .89 for Affection, .79 for Loyalty, .81 for Contribution and .89 for Professional Respect. The Alpha of total scale was .94 .
