Leading A Virtual Membership Meeting
Learning Objective #1: Describe three essential components of leading a successful online meeting
Learning Objective #2: Apply two creative leadership concepts to current organization or professional chapter
While communication has long been heralded as the cornerstone of leadership, in today's world connectivity has become the essential component for assuring effective communication, particularly in our global community. Whether leading a staff meeting, a task force discussion, a strategic planning session, or a general meeting of a professional organization, the components for success are similar when face to face or in virtual space. However, there are unique challenges when the process is not face-to-face, and leadership assumes a new dimension to address the "invisible" members of the group. When leadership spans geographical borders communication is best enhanced through connectivity, whether it be via teleconference, or online discussion. Using the innovative approach to a general membership meeting for the Omicron Delta Chapter, this presentation will identify the key components for success when leading in a “virtual” fashion.
