Communication Skill Training for Head Nurses on Head Nurses – Staff Nurses Relationship

The purposes of this quasi-experimental research are to study effects of communication skills training for head nurses by comparing head nurses-staff nurses relationship before and after program implementation. Study subjects are consisted of 16 head nurses and 88 staff nurses who working at Ramkhamhaeng hospital. Study instruments are the communication skill program applied from Beaulieu's concept (1992) and head nurses–staff nurses relationship of Whipple (2004). The questionnaire of head nurse-staff nurse relationship is tested for content validity and reliability. According to the study, All head nurses are trained communication skills and then they use those skills with their staff nurses for 1 month. After that, staff nurses are asked to complete the questionnaire of head nurses–staff nurses relationship. Study data are analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and t-test. The findings will be complete in July 2005.
