Learning Objective #1: Identify various methods to utilize multimedia applications to enhance teaching and learning
Learning Objective #2: Discuss the relationship of learning styles to the use of multimedia applications in teaching and learning

This presentation will address the relationships of learning styles to the use of multimedia applications in on-line teaching and learning in the nursing curriculum. Data collected from a sample of nursing students examines these relationships and the use of various types of multimedia applications to enhance the teaching/learning process. Data collected from a sample of nursing students will be presented, along with analysis of the data, including results and recommendations. This study revealed that attitudes toward the use of multimedia as a teaching tool in on-line teaching and learning, regardless of the learning style of the student, can be effective and may in fact enhance instruction by appealing to the various learning styles of the students. Recommendations include exploring the performance of students using various multimedia applications, as well as identifying the most effective type of multimedia for various learners. It seems that the use of multimedia applications in on-line teaching and learning can only enhance learning, regardless of learning style.
