Learning Objective #2: Identify stategies to overcome New Access Students' risk factors and succeed in nursing education

The Purpose of the Nursing Education, Training and Skills (NETS) Outreach Program is to enhance Schools of Nursing's Career Ladder Programs by promoting the Advancement of Hospital Employees who are CNA's, Technicians, and LPN's to succeed in becoming professional nurses (RN's). The NETS Outreach Program will address the priority of retention of nurses in the hospital setting, since Career Ladder Students who become RNs have demonstrated a commitment to a healthcare career. The NETS Outreach Program is to substantially benefit the underserved and disadvantaged populations by providing a Professional Nursing Level Education. The project director, is the Coordinator of Admissions and Curriculum and cites that a primary objective of the study is to expand the enrollment of Career Ladder students. The project director continues to coordinate a team approach with exiting faculty and support staff as well as with the addition of an outreach coordinator. The overall objective of the NETS Outreach team is that this program will have a positive impact on recruitment, remediation and N-CLEX success. Data collected will indicate if the objectives are being met. First, to identify resource capabilities for New Access Students for pre-admission and program remediation. And second, to identify stategies to overcome New Access Students risk factors and become more successful in the nursing program.
