Learning Objective 1: Identify the unique needs of the mature student.

Learning Objective 2: Identify ways the BSN program can successfully mentor the mature student.

Many people are returning to school for career changes or transitioning to nursing as a second career. This research intends to examine the traditional BSN program, rather than the RN to BSN program, to determine the specific needs of the mature student and how BSN programs can meet the needs of the mature student. Mature, defined as over forty years old, students already possess life and professional experience. Interviews using a standardized questionnaire with at least 10 mature recent graduates from various BSN programs will be conducted and analyzed to determine their needs.
