Learning Objective #1: It was to examine the reliability and validity for the extubation of patients in postanesthesia care unit.
Learning Objective #2: According to the Extubation Protocol, nurses evaluated very carefully and completed the extubation directly and successfully.

The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity for the extubation protocol of patients in postanesthesia care unit. 418 patients fittins the sampling criteria underwent general anesthesia. According to the Extubation Protocol, nurses evaluated very carefully and completed the extubation directly and successfully. Based on the nursing care model of the recovery room for this empirical research, we build up the systematic and clinical-service-oriented standard. The clinical nurses could complete the extubation process successfully, plus reducing intubation time. This nursing model can be applied and change the decision making of the PACU. Furthermore, it will increase the satisfantion rate, and improve the quality of nursing care, providing an evidence-based healthcare to post-operative patients.
