factor in success of free tissue transfer reconstruction for head and neck cancer
patients. To improve the quality of post-operative care, we design continued education
programs and guidlines for the assessment of circulation of the flap. The aim of this
paper is to disscuss the benefit of this program.
Method: Before this program , we found there were inconsistence and uncertain
assessment of free flap between different nurses. Although the circulation
compromised rate of free flap reconstruction may be up to 12.1%. The successful rate
of free flap reconstruction still can achieve 93-96% in community hospital if early
detection of circulation problem could be achieved . This project designs multiple
media education programs and guidlines for the assessment of the circulation of free
flap. Text evaluation before- and after - education is compaired.
Result: The averge score was improved from 57.2 to 92.1.
Conclusion: The education programs significantly improve the knowledge of nurses
in post-operative care of free tissue transfer after head and neck cancer extipiration.
