Connecting Nurses to Make A Difference in Global Healthcare
Sandy Jost, MSN, RN, Department of Nursing, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA

This presentation will discuss an international framework for collaboration that encourages the reciprocal exchange of nursing knowledge between source and host countries. The ultimate goal of such collaboration is the development of transnational networks that respond to the challenges of globalization - thus enhancing patient outcomes globally. Strategies for effective inter-country collaboration will be presented and policy development highlighted. The presentation also will identify the four phases of adaptation that migrating nurses undergo and provide a model that facilitates acculturation into a new practice environment.
