SPECIAL SESSION: Issues and Challenges for Experienced Researchers in Publishing their Work
Learning Objective #1: The learner will be able to articulate the key challenges and issues relating to publishing research findings in journals.
Learning Objective #2: The learner will be able to identify ways in which new developments in journal publishing worldwide are impacting on the dissemination of nursing research.
This session is aimed at more experienced researchers, including those working on funded research projects or leading research teams or a longer-term programmes of research. It will focus on some of the more complicated and challenging issues attached to the dissemination of findings from nursing research, including: • Criteria for selecting journals in which to publish (including Impact Factor) • Planning and managing multiple publications from a large project or programme • Issues attached to multi-authorship • Writing papers for international readerships • Implications of recent developments in publishing, including online access The session will include a powerpoint presentation, but the intention is for this workshop to be interactive and therefore plenty of time will be allowed for questions and discussion.
