Effect of Optimizing Clinical Evaluation Tool for Nursing Management Student on Their Managerial Skills

Learning Objective 2: determine the effect of applying modified clinical evaluation tool in nursing management courses on the management skills of nursing

The present research is a clinical trial study, which is carried out in order to determine the effect of applying modified clinical evaluation tool in nursing management courses on the management skills of nursing student in one of the nursing faculties of Tehran universities. The sample, including 60 nursing students. The random allocation techniques were assigned to two groups of experimental and control. Data collection tools include demographic questionnaire and observational checklist. The evaluation tool was optimized with designed optimizing processes that have designed based on “BARS” technique. Validity was acquired with expert panel and interrater reliability and internal reliability with(r = 0/8) acquired in good level. Designed evaluation program applied for experimental group and control group was evaluated with pervious tool.(routine tool) . According to the results independent t test indicated that there was a significant difference between experimental and control group in management skills (p<0/05). These results showed that in experimental group evaluation grades had showed student management skills but in control group evaluation grades didn't showed student management skills. According to our results, it can be claimed that using modified evaluation tool in nursing management courses can increased management skills of nursing student.
