Learning Objective 1: Describe the effect of composing model on level of cognition of nursing students in clinical training
Learning Objective 2: Describe the effect of composing model on level of function of nursing students in clinical training
Background & Aim:The education system is a collection of programs methods and material which together facilitates the achievement of special educational goals for the learners designing educational systems is a prescription or prediction of ideal educational methods to achieve expected changes in students knowledge skills and emotions. In this design we encounter with two groups of problems including information problems and functional problems . Similarly educational needs are devided in to two categories : 1)learning special information students don t know (input) 2)improving students skills by applying special policies (output ).
In this research what was mentioned as a compound educational method borrowed from the theories of 3 great teachers : David Asubel, Hilda Taba and Floyd Robinson . In this method a combination of teaching from the group of data analysis models namely inductive thinking model and advanced organizer model was utilized .
The purpose of this quasi – experimental research was to determine the effects of the compound and educational method the level of cognition and function of sophomore nursing students in their clinical training at cardiology wards.
Material & Method : The students were trained according to a 12=day curriculum based on the objectives of Medical-Surgical Nursing Department and were divided into 2 experimental and control groups. For the experimental group 3 main advanced organizers (clinical examination, chest X-Ray and examination )
and oxygen therapy , respiratory physiotherapy , as well as ECG reading were provided and practiced. Also some subjects include angina pectoris , myocardial infarction , CHF , HTN , and educations , with impress on clinical datas about special drugs in cardiac ward , passing on pation's file and the reasons of laboratory tests was planned and practiced. In addition 8 critical situations for nursing discision-making , were traind.
All of the students in groups (28 in the control group and 29 in the experimental group) took part in examinations on the 1th , 7th, and 11th day of program.
Result:Findings showd that scores in compound method were higher in all domains than those in traditional method and a significant difference was found of the T-Test between groups.
Conclusion:It can be concluded that the compound method more effective in improving cognition and function of nursing student.
