Correlational Between Adolescence Smoking and Important Related Person

Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to focus on peer and family effect to enhance outcome of adolescent smoking prevention.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between adolescence smoking behavior and the smoking status and attitude of important related person. The population of the study was recruited from a cross-sectional study of smoking status of students in senior high and senior occupation school held by a regional sanitary bulletin.752 students who smoked is involved. There were 574 male (76.3%) and 178 female(23.7%).Most of the students initiated and had regular smoke between 13-15 years old. Duration of smoking in the previous 30 days was mostly between 20-29 days(43.2%);the average number of cigarette smoked per days was 10(81.5%);most the adolescent smoker had weak tendency of smoking addiction(62.8%).Peer and father smoking were related to adolescent smoking.

The result of this study may be used as reference for health caregiver while they implicate intervention for smoking cessation. We also suggest that one should focus on peer and family effect to enhance outcome of adolescent smoking prevention.
