Purposes

This purposes of this study were 1) the rate of alcohol drinking and 2) the rate of suicide attempts, and 3) alcohol drinking and suicide attempts among adolescents in Korea.

Methods

The research subjects were 37,420middle school students. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey using randomized sampling method.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey to assess the Life time alcohol drinking and suicide attempts, and then examine relationship between alcohol drinking and suicide attempts among adolescents.

Results:

The rate of alcohol drinking 46.0%, 2) suicide attempts 5.8% of adolescents reported that they had life time drinking and suicide attempts experience. 3) The relationship between alcohol drinking and suicide attempts was significantly(p=.000).

Conclusions: These findings suggest the linkage of health risk behavior are association of alcohol abuse and suicide attempts and suggest a need for prevents nursing intervention program for in early adolescents.
