Learning Objective 1: We tried to improve our qualities through the aspects of nursing staff, scrubbers, working rules and equipments in hospital using “PDCA” method.
Learning Objective 2: We provide patients a safer environment, raising client’s satisfaction and also refining the image of our hospital.
The hospital, in one side, is the place of treating diseases, in the other, is also the place spreading them. Therefore environmental sanitation and the image of hospital are closely related to the safety of patients. We designed a questionnaire for the satisfaction at the environmental and toilet sanitation in Keelung branch of CGMH, 2004. The result showed that 76% of the tested were. subjects satisfactory were with our environmental sanitation. There were 36 negative opinions have been collected since Jan. 1, 2004 to Aug. 31, 2005. Among these complaints, the leading ones were poor environmental hygiene (24/36, 66.7%), in salutary ward/clinics (17/24, 70.83%) and the bloom of cockroach (14/17, 82.35%). We analyzed the complaints and following reasons were proposed: (1) poor architectural design (2) lack of maintenance of equipments (3) lack of recognition in processing environmental sanitation and medical litters (4) incomplete equipments cleanness in nursing station check-up (5) ineffectiveness of cockroach insecticides. We tried to improve our qualities through the aspects of nursing staff, scrubbers, working rules and equipments in hospital using “PDCA” method. The satisfactory ratio to environmental sanitation raise from 76% to 86% after our efforts with this project, we provide patients a safer environment, raising client's satisfaction and also refining the image of our hospital.
