According to statistics, liver cancer is No. 1 cause of death for male people in Taiwan, and No. 2 cause for the female. Currently, Transaterial Chemoembolization (TACE) is one of the major treatments for the disease. However, before the treatment, the preparation is very complicated. If there is any mistake during the preparation, it will delay the treatment for the patient. In the record of the ward we took care of, from June ‘05 to December '05, there are 48 patients taking the TACE treatment, in which the complete rate of the preparation is 57% and that is too low. By observing, interviewing with the staff and document collecting, we conclude the two following facts. First, the doctor is not familiar with the contents and items in the prescription form for the medicine of chemical therapy. Second, it takes the staff a long time to get the medicine, which delays the medicine preparation of chemical therapy. Through document check and discussion with related departments, our ward made authentication signature for the prescription form, and simplified the process by reserving Doxorubicin medicine in chemical therapy room. After taking the measures and process, we achieved 100% preparation complete rate, and enhanced the medical service quality to the patient
