Purpose:
As the nursing workforce ages, there are many opportunities that are less physically demanding for experienced nurses to take advantage of outside of direct patient care. At the same time information technology continues to become an increasingly integral part of healthcare. Methods: Understanding technology and what nurses can provide develops a rich set of resources for patient care delivery. Results: We can develop roles that add value and support direct patient care.
Conclusion: This presentation will address how to actively engage, involve and mentor these nurses into a nursing informatics role as you build an informatics team.
