Purpose:
With the chaos of the medical environment, the nursing staff needs to be capable of creative thinking to handle the complicated health problems and designs the scrupulous solutions. The cultivation of creative thinking abilities should start from nursing education. Our department began the Clinical Case Study (III) in the two-year program since 1999, namely training critical thinking, creative thinking, problem-solving, and integrity abilities of nursing students to incorporate and apply into nursing process of the case. However, the teachers and nursing students would frequently complain of heavy burdens, breathless, and painfulness. Therefore, by 2008 our department originally revised the Clinical Case Study and Practicum (III) as creative thinking and integrity abilities of nursing students to incorporate and apply into nursing process of the case. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of creative thinking abilities of nursing students in the improved course of Clinical Case Study and Practicum (III). Methods: The model of creative thinking teaching strategies by Chen (1990) was used by way of asking, thinking, doing, evaluation to cultivate the creative thinking abilities of nursing students. This study was from August 1, 2008 to July 31, 2009 while focus group qualitative study was used as evaluation of the research design, purposive samples were 6-10 persons, and recording interview content would appear by way of draft words for words. Researcher and another one executed the content analysis of the materials and formed the themes. Additionally, teachers would do course evaluation by the panel discussion and nursing students self-evaluated their creative thinking by a VAS scale.
Results: It is ongoing study and studying results have not showed up. Conclusion: It is ongoing study and studying results have not showed up.
