Challenges for Developing and Implementing Evidence-Based Education Program in Clinical Nurses

Learning Objective 1: To understand the implementing experience of evidence-based practice education program

Learning Objective 2: To understand the limitation of evidence-based practice education program promote to clinical nurses.

Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is evolving and empowers nurses to form innovative learning partnerships with colleagues to nourish wisdom, strengthen critical thinking, integrate research knowledge, and promote the best practice.
Purpose: Plan the nursing education program of EBP, in order to strengthen the clinical nursing staff's cognition, ability, and apply to clinic.
Method: the strateges include :To establish and train the seed teacher of EBP of nursing department; Develop the network platform of knowledge in EBP; To combine the EBP education program with the nursing staff's ladder program; To held the foundation and advanced EBP training, arrange for teacher's specific guidance of seed to finish PICO model( Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) and Critically Appraised Topic (CAT)GApply the EBP to bind with standard operation procedure.
Result: From 2004-2008, 950 nurses accept 4 hours EBP group training session and attend to specific mentoring to finish PICO and CAT. The nurse’s statisfication accounts for 88%, the utilization ratio of the electronic database increases 109%.
Conclusion: Combine the group and specific mentoring to promote EBP that increase nurse’s evidence-based practice ability and build the culture of evidence-based practice apply to clinic.
