Promotion of Skin Integrity of Inpatients in Intensive Care Unit With definitely importance, skin integrity of all patients is the top concerned problem in any medical institution. Skin damages as pressure sore of inpatients may lead to prolonged hospitalization and result in medical malpractice For nursing practice, both low accuracy rate of position-change and skin integrity assessment skills deficiency are main problems now. The purpose of this project was elevating skin integrity of inpatients in intensive care unit (ICU). By designing of ”Skin assessment & position-change guidance”, “Nursing securement standard of Skin assessment & position-change”, and arranging “In-Service Education Program”, skin damage rate of inpatients improved from 1.4% to 0.7%. Accurate skin assessment rate of nurses was raised from 5.5% to 80.5%; accurate position-change rate of nurses was increased from 60.4% to 97.2%. We expect this project to increase nurses’ knowledge of skin integrity, promote nursing quality, serve as a reference in clinical practice and enhance critical care nursing value.
