Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to increase nurses’ job satisfaction.
Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to decrease nursing error rate.
Purpose: The purpose of this quasi experimental research was to compare the nurses’ job satisfaction and nursing error rate before and after using Transforming Care At the Bedside (TCAB) program. Methods: Research sample consisted of 30 nurses from intensive care units in Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital. Research instruments ie. training plan, TCAB handbook, nursing error’ document report and nurses’ job satisfaction questionnaires, have been tested for content validity and reliability. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the questionnaire was .89. The data were analyzed by percentile, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
Results: The major findings were as follow:
1. The mean score of nurses’ job satisfaction of group using TCAB program was significantly higher than before experiment, at the .05 level.
2. Rate of nursing error from tube dislocation after implementation the TCAB program reduced 45.26 percent.
3. Rate of nursing error from medication error after implementation the TCAB program reduced 100 percent.
Conclusion: TCAB in intensive care unit in Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital has redesign the process of nursing care in ICU and enabled care manager to spend more time with patients, families and collaboration with team.
