Learning Objective 1: To achieve real-time monitor of expiratory date of instruments, and, thus, to decrease the cost for disinfection.

Learning Objective 2: To monitor instruments in a real-time way by tag informatization to ensure parturient safety.

Purpose:

This study aimed to apply the tag informatization to instrument management in the delivery room in a bid to :

1.  To achieve real-time monitor of expiratory date of instruments, and, thus, to decrease the cost for disinfection.

2.  To monitor instruments in a real-time way by tag informatization to ensure parturient safety.

3.  To guarantee disinfectant quality of instrument and decrease the wound infection rate.

Methods:

1.  To assign different tags for each instrument package and set up tag informatization.

2.  Via tag informatization, we can monitor the disinfection of each instrument package to ensure their quality.

3.  We can get the list of instruments used for every parturients through tag informatizaiton.

Results:

After tag informatization, we found that

1.  The paper working time of nursing staff for each parturient was decreased by 25 minutes.

2.  The cost for instrument disinfection was decreased by 6000 NT per day.

3.  The accuracy rate to follow the instruments could reach 100 %.

4.The wound infection rate of the parturient was 0% after tag infomatiztion was implemented.

Conclusion:

The application of tag informatizaion to manage instrument package in the delivery room can effectively monitor the instrument usage, decrease the cost for disinfection, promote the instrument quality, and ensure the safety of parturient and infant during the delivery process.
