Learning Objective 1: The learner will be able to understand the process of developing a Chinese Nursing Practicum Creative Process Questionnaire (CNPCPQ) in Taiwan.
Learning Objective 2: The learner will be able to use a Chinese Nursing Practicum Creative Process Questionnaire (CNPCPQ).
Methods: The focus of this quantitative study was to generate items for a CNPCPQ based on the content analysis of qualitative data from interviewing 18 Taiwanese nurses who received awards during 2009 – 2010 for developing creative nursing products. This study was part of research approved by the National Science Council NSC101-2511-S-242-002 and is being conducted from August 2012 to July 2013 with IRB protocol number as FYH-IRB-101-07-01-A. In addition to gathering demographic data about the RN-BSN students, the initial 100 items of the CNPCPQ included questions for assessing the characteristics and abilities involved in, and barriers to, nursing practicum creative process, as well as the motivation, ways, principles, skills/ strategies, resources, and feelings involved in the nursing practicum creative process. The content validity of the CNPCPQ was assured by having it evaluated by three experts and in discussion with our research team. A pilot study was tested with 30 RN-BSN students and the questionnaire revised to 50 items. A formal survey using the CNPCPQ will be conducted among nursing schools by randomly selecting RN-BSN students from various programs in Taiwan. Upon completing the survey, the reliability of the CNPCPQ will be tested according to Cronbach's α cover .80 and the validity will use exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis.
